WHO THEY ARE

About Axis Communications.

Axis Communications is a Swedish network technology company founded in 1984 and headquartered in Lund. Part of the Canon Group since 2015, it employs around 5,000 people in more than 50 countries and reported total sales of USD 2.1 billion in 2025. Axis is known for inventing the network camera and for designing its own ARTPEC system-on-chip, which handles image processing, compression and deep-learning analytics inside every device.

The portfolio spans network cameras, radar, thermal imaging, network audio, intercoms and IP-based access control, all running on AXIS OS and delivered through system integration partners. In the Middle East, Axis operates from Dubai and opened a Riyadh office and Axis Experience Centre in October 2024, giving Saudi customers, consultants and integrators hands-on access to solutions for critical infrastructure, government, smart cities and enterprise campuses.

The portfolio, today.

01

Network cameras on ARTPEC-9

Fixed, PTZ, panoramic, thermal and bispectral cameras built on the ARTPEC-9 system-on-chip, with Lightfinder low-light imaging, Zipstream and AV1 compression, and signed firmware with Axis Edge Vault for cybersecurity in demanding sites.

02

AXIS OS and edge analytics

A common operating system across all Axis devices, with deep-learning analytics such as AXIS Object Analytics and AXIS License Plate Verifier running on the camera, plus the ACAP platform for third-party applications.

03

Access control and intercoms

IP-based door controllers, OSDP-ready readers such as the AXIS A4030-E and the AXIS A4610 keypad reader, and network intercoms that unify video, audio and entry management on a single platform.

04

Network audio

IP speakers, amplifiers and audio management software for live and scheduled announcements, deterrence and background music, integrated with cameras and analytics so messages can be triggered by detected events.

05

Video management and cloud

AXIS Camera Station Pro and AXIS Camera Station Edge for on-premises or hybrid video management, with AXIS Cloud Connect providing secure remote access, device management and hosted services across distributed sites.

AI FOCUS

Deep learning at the edge, on Axis-designed silicon

Axis builds AI into the device rather than adding it afterwards. Its in-house ARTPEC system-on-chip includes a deep learning processing unit that classifies objects in real time inside the camera, produces rich metadata and supports intelligent masking of faces and licence plates for privacy. ARTPEC-9 triples analytics performance over the previous generation and adds AV1 encoding for efficient cloud workflows.

The 2026 Axis Perspectives report sets out a five-stage maturity model from passive video to autonomous operations, positioning cameras as business sensors for safety and efficiency as well as security. Axis supports open ONVIF metadata, ACAP for partner analytics and hybrid edge, server and cloud designs, and in August 2026 joined Palo Alto Networks' Frontier AI Critical Defense Program to protect edge devices from AI-accelerated exploits.

  • ARTPEC-9 with DLPU for real-time object classification on the camera
  • AXIS Object Analytics and AXIS License Plate Verifier running at the edge
  • Metadata and intelligent masking for privacy-aware, searchable video
  • ACAP platform for third-party deep-learning applications on Axis devices
