Dropbox describes its AI direction as building a trusted context layer for AI: rather than syncing files alone, it organises and understands content across the apps a team uses, then makes that knowledge available to assistants and agents. Dash intelligence is being brought directly into the core Dropbox experience for paying customers, and AI features are governed by Dropbox's published AI principles.
Dropbox Dash delivers natural-language search across text, images, video and audio, sourced answers and summaries, writing assistance and Stacks for organising links. Through a Model Context Protocol server and native apps, Dropbox content is available inside ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, Codex and Claude, always limited to files the user is already permitted to see. Dropbox states it does not use customer content to train generative AI models.
