IDEMIA is a French technology group formed in 2017 from the merger of Oberthur Technologies and Morpho, headquartered in Courbevoie near Paris and owned by Advent International. It employs around 12,500 people, including 3,000 R&D engineers, and generated more than EUR 2.8 billion in revenue in 2024. The group is known for biometrics and cryptography, holds over 1,500 active patent families and serves more than 600 government agencies and 2,300 enterprises.
Since selling IDEMIA Smart Identity to IN Groupe in July 2025, the group runs two businesses: IDEMIA Public Security, covering biometric access control, justice and public safety, and travel and border solutions, and IDEMIA Secure Transactions, covering payment, connectivity and cybersecurity. IDEMIA has an office in Riyadh and in 2025 signed agreements with Technology Control Company, SAMI Advanced Electronics and Matarat Holding to advance biometrics across Saudi airports, borders and smart cities.
