Nextcloud's AI strategy is built around sovereignty: AI features run on models hosted on the customer's own infrastructure or with a provider the customer chooses, never as a mandatory external service. Nextcloud publishes an Ethical AI Rating for each integration, giving administrators transparency about whether models are open, can run locally and are trained on freely available data.
Nextcloud Assistant delivers chat with memory, summaries of emails, chats, calls and documents, translation, transcription with subtitles, OCR, image generation and a context-aware chat that answers questions from organisational data. The Hub 26 releases added universal search, skills for multi-step procedures, task scheduling and Kubernetes-scale performance, with backends ranging from open-source local LLMs to Deutsche Telekom, IONOS and OVHcloud.

Nextcloud Hub 26 Summer released
Released on 16 September 2026, Hub 26 Summer introduces Nextcloud Teams for dedicated team spaces, a redesigned Photos app, desktop clients for Nextcloud Office, and Assistant upgrades including OCR, audio transcription, memory and skills.
Hub 26 Spring adds Euro-Office and Governance
The 9 June 2026 release refined the interface, added Euro-Office as a second office suite option, Voice Rooms in Talk, Gantt charts in Deck, Nextcloud Governance for compliance, and an ISV Partner Program for developers.
Hub 26 Winter focuses on resilience and independence
Unveiled at the Nextcloud Special Event on 18 February 2026, Hub 26 Winter emphasised resilience and independence, giving organisations more choice and flexibility in how they run and integrate their collaboration stack.
