WHO THEY ARE

About NEC.

Sharp NEC Display Solutions is the professional visual solutions business that grew out of NEC Display Solutions, established in 2000. Sharp acquired a 66 percent stake from NEC in 2020 to form the joint venture, then took full ownership in late 2025. The business is now being integrated into Sharp under the 'One Sharp' positioning, with the NEC brand retired from the display portfolio and products sold as Sharp in the Americas, Europe and other regions.

The portfolio covers large-format displays, direct view LED, projectors, collaboration displays, desktop monitors and ePaper, managed by NaViSet Administrator software, for corporate, education, retail, transport, control room and cinema environments. In the Middle East, Sharp Middle East & Africa FZE, established in Dubai's Jebel Ali Free Zone in 1998, supports professional display customers across 76 countries, giving regional enterprises and government buyers a long-standing local presence.

LATEST SOLUTIONS

The portfolio, today.

01

Large Format Displays

Commercial-grade displays for signage, meeting rooms and control rooms, engineered for continuous operation, with Smart Display Module (SDM) slots for BrightSign or Raspberry Pi-based players installed directly inside the screen.

02

Direct View LED

Modular dvLED walls for lobbies, auditoriums, broadcast and command centres, including the EC Series chip-on-board range launched in 2026 with 0.9 to 1.8 mm pixel pitches for cost-effective installations.

03

Projectors

Installation, large-venue and cinema projectors, including new Sharp-branded 2K and 4K laser cinema models introduced in 2026, for auditoriums, higher education, houses of worship and entertainment venues.

04

Collaboration Displays

Interactive displays such as the LB3 Series for hybrid meeting rooms and classrooms, combining touch, whiteboarding and room-system integration to support workplace and learning collaboration.

05

Display Management Software

NaViSet Administrator provides centralised monitoring, asset management and control of display fleets, and a Q-SYS verified plugin enables integration of Sharp large-screen displays with Q-SYS control ecosystems.

AI FOCUS

AI-ready edge compute inside the display

Sharp's approach brings AI to the edge of the display rather than to the cloud. The Smart Display Module standard lets customers slot compute directly into the screen, and the 2026 SDM MPi5 Kit pairs a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 with a Hailo AI accelerator so signage can run computer-vision and analytics workloads locally, without additional hardware or added complexity.

Alongside AI-capable modules, SDM computing with BrightSign built in delivers mainstream signage playback, while NaViSet Administrator gives IT teams remote monitoring, diagnostics and asset management across large fleets. Together these give retail, transport and corporate customers a practical path to audience analytics and automated content on the displays they already operate.

  • SDM computing with BrightSign built in for signage playback
  • NaViSet Administrator: centralised monitoring and asset management
  • Q-SYS verified plugin for control-system integration
